Yeongcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, announced Thursday that it is holding a two-day orientation workshop for 32 new civil servants to help them better understand the city and their roles in local government.
The "2026 New Civil Servant Yeongcheon Orientation Workshop," which began Wednesday, is designed to give new hires a firsthand look at the city's history and key project sites, while fostering a sense of belonging and professional pride.
Participants visited Imgoseowon Chunghyo Cultural Training Center, where they took part in a traditional tea ceremony and attended a lecture on Yeongcheon's history. They also explored major tourism assets, including the suspension bridge and zip line at Bohyeonsan Dam.
The group then toured Yeongcheon Racecourse Park and held team discussions on ways to attract more visitors to the area and extend their stays.
Participants shared ideas for encouraging local spending and longer visits, with plans to present their findings the following day.
The itinerary also includes visits to Eunhaesa Temple, the Shin Sung-il Memorial Hall and the North Gyeongsang Automotive Embedded Research Institute.
"Even familiar sights in Yeongcheon can spark ideas for better governance when viewed with fresh eyes," Mayor Kim Byung-sam said. "I hope you will draw on your interest in the community and the ideas you've shared with your colleagues to deliver public services that truly improve residents' lives."
