Concert held Thursday at National Fire Service Hospital
About 100 in attendance for roughly 40-minute program
Hanwha has supported music education for youth in Cheonan and Cheongju since 2014
Hanwha announced Friday that its Hanwha Youth Orchestra held a concert for patients and medical staff at the National Fire Service Hospital on Thursday.
About 100 people, including medical staff and patients, attended the roughly 40-minute performance. The program featured Rossini's "The Barber of Seville" overture, Yang Bang-ean's "Frontier," and the Waltz of the Flowers from Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker."
The concert was organized by young local musicians who have developed their classical instrument skills with Hanwha's support. The members expressed their gratitude through music to firefighters and medical staff who have dedicated themselves to public safety.
The Hanwha Youth Orchestra is a cultural arts corporate social responsibility project that Hanwha Group has operated since 2014 for young people in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, and Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. The initiative drew inspiration from El Sistema, a social music education model that originated in Venezuela. Each year, Hanwha provides about 60 young people with classical instrument instruction from professional teachers and opportunities to perform in an orchestra. Approximately 800 members have passed through the orchestra to date.
The Hanwha Youth Orchestra is scheduled to hold its regular concert at Cheongju Art Hall on Nov. 12. "We plan to continue supporting music education and performance activities so that young people can grow through music and share their talents with the local community," a Hanwha official said.
