Long-term reading management strategy established
Environment created to encourage voluntary reading
Korea East-West Power Co. received the excellence award at the 2026 Reading Management Outstanding Workplace certification ceremony, held Thursday at the National Library of Korea and organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The company was recognized for its systematic reading management strategy and employee-centered reading programs.
The Reading Management Outstanding Workplace certification program was introduced in 2014 to promote a culture of reading in the workplace by encouraging companies to build reading-friendly environments and run diverse reading initiatives.
Korea East-West Power has established a mid- to long-term reading management strategy aimed at strengthening employees' creative thinking and problem-solving skills in an era of AI transformation, while operating a range of programs that encourage autonomous learning and knowledge sharing.
The company has built an environment where employees can engage with books naturally in their daily lives through three initiatives: providing books to employees' children to mark school enrollment, running a practice-oriented reading group where staff share knowledge and experiences, and supporting employees in purchasing books of their own choosing based on personal interests and needs.
The company is also donating books to communities near its power plants in an effort to improve residents' access to reading.
