Three-day event at BPEX runs through Wednesday; four exhibition halls to cover autonomous navigation, carbon neutrality, AI disaster response and B2B business
Busan city and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries are jointly hosting the 2026 Korea Marine Mobility and Safety Expo at the Busan Port International Exhibition and Convention Center (BPEX) from Monday through Wednesday.
Now in its ninth edition, the expo aims to promote a culture of maritime safety and invigorate the marine mobility and safety industries. Held in conjunction with the 2026 World Maritime Day commemorations and Korea Maritime Week, the event will introduce cutting-edge marine technologies to domestic and international industry stakeholders and provide opportunities for exchange and cooperation.
The exhibition floor is organized into four halls: an autonomous navigation and unmanned mobility technology hall, an eco-friendly mobility and carbon neutrality hall, a marine advanced safety and AI disaster response hall, and a B2B business hall.
The autonomous navigation and unmanned mobility technology hall will feature navigation simulator experiences alongside research on autonomous vessels, marine cybersecurity technology and surface drones for search-and-rescue operations. The eco-friendly mobility and carbon neutrality hall will showcase low-carbon and hydrogen-powered vessel technologies as well as marine fuel cells.
The marine advanced safety and AI disaster response hall will cover marine weather information, the "Anjeunhae" app service, marine communications equipment, Internet of Things (IoT) network systems and vessel inspection. The B2B business hall will present ocean observation information services along with big data analytics and AI solutions.
Consulting sessions and briefings will also be held to connect domestic and international buyers with participating companies, offering export consultation opportunities and a platform to introduce technologies and products and explore new business partnerships.
At the waterfront park in Busan Port's North Port, visitors can take part in a range of maritime safety activities — a life jacket fashion runway event, CPR training, a ship navigation simulation, marine virtual reality experiences and life-saving equipment safety education.
Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Oh Seok-geun described the event as "a venue for sharing advanced marine technologies and for domestic and international maritime industry stakeholders to explore new opportunities for cooperation," expressing hope that it would also give citizens a chance to appreciate the importance of maritime safety in everyday life.
