The event on Friday will bring together residents of all ages at Haengdang-dong's Jeonggwanwon Children's Park to share apartment community achievements and foster neighborly bonds, with hands-on programs spanning play, the environment and health, capped by an outdoor blanket film screening from 6 p.m.
Seoul's Seongdong-gu will host the 2026 Apartment Community Healing Festival, themed "A Wonderful Day in October," at Jeonggwanwon Children's Park in Haengdang-dong on Friday.
The event is designed to showcase the achievements of apartment community groups and encourage exchanges among neighbors across generations. A range of performances and hands-on programs will be open to residents of all ages — from children to senior citizens — and the public is welcome to attend regardless of whether they live in an apartment complex.
The festivities kick off at 3:30 p.m. with community activity exhibitions by complex and group recreation activities. An opening ceremony will follow, featuring a video highlighting this year's apartment community programs and a celebratory performance by a children's choir, with a string quartet adding to the autumn festival atmosphere.
The centerpiece of the event is the "Forest Healing Festival," which will offer a variety of programs for residents to share community activities and enjoy time together.
A "Cross-Generation Sharing Corner" will feature an exhibition showcasing each apartment complex's community achievements, along with a program where residents can collaborate to create a community map.
A "Cross-Generation Experience Zone" will offer hands-on activities for all ages — including keycap keychain making, face painting and a treasure hunt for children and families, as well as woodworking and a recycling quiz for environmental awareness. Programs for senior citizens will include a dementia-prevention session, a cross-generation photo booth and nostalgic traditional games.
The evening will close with an outdoor "Blanket Film Festival." From 6 p.m., families and neighbors can settle onto picnic blankets and watch the animated film "Into the World" under the autumn sky.
Seongdong-gu District Mayor Yoo Bo-hwa said she hopes the festival will give apartment residents and local community members a chance to share their everyday lives and connect across generations. "We will continue to broaden communication and exchange among neighbors to build a warm community culture," she said.
