Continental Tire to supply EcoContact 6 Q as OE tire for new Audi Q3

Continental Tire announced Tuesday that it will supply its summer tire EcoContact 6 Q as original equipment for Audi's new compact SUV, the Q3.

The EcoContact 6 Q serves as the summer OE tire for the new Audi Q3, which launched in South Korea in June, and has received approval in 18-, 19- and 20-inch sizes for global markets. The tire is designed to deliver low rolling resistance and high energy efficiency.

A specially developed rubber compound and an optimized tread pattern reduce rolling resistance and help cut fuel consumption. The tire also produces low road noise and delivers strong braking performance on both dry and wet surfaces.

Continental Tire said its winter tire WinterContact TS 870 P and all-season tire ProContact TX10 have also been selected as recommended tires for the Q3 — the former for winter use and the latter for the North American market.

The WinterContact TS 870 P has been approved in 17- and 19-inch sizes. A newly developed tread pattern and sipes provide stable grip on snow and ice, while a rubber compound that retains flexibility at low temperatures helps shorten braking distances and maintain stable handling on cold, wet and snowy roads.

The ProContact TX10 has been selected as the recommended tire for the new Audi Q3 in the United States and Canada, with approval in 18-, 19- and 20-inch sizes. Designed to deliver balanced grip across varied weather and road conditions, the tire is characterized by stable wet-surface braking performance and low road noise.

"Choosing the right tire for the road conditions and season is essential to getting the most out of a vehicle," said Niko Kyriazopoulos, head of the replacement tire division at Continental Tire Korea. "Supplying OE tires for the new Audi Q3 gives us another opportunity to demonstrate Continental's technological capabilities. We will continue to offer tires that combine safety and driving efficiency."

Meanwhile, Continental Tire recently topped two categories in a tire test conducted by a German automotive trade publication, with its all-weather tire AllSeasonContact 2 and winter tire WinterContact TS 870 P each taking first place.
