Busan city announced Wednesday that Kim Sung-ki, a personnel planning official at the Ministry of Interior and Safety, will take office as the city's new administrative deputy mayor.
Kim passed the 43rd national civil service examination and entered public service in 2000, building broad expertise in policy planning, local finance and organizational management through postings at both the Ministry of Interior and Safety and the Sejong Special Autonomous City government.
At the ministry, he served successively as head of the local tax revenue information division, the local tax exemption regime division, the local tax policy division, the fiscal policy division and the minister's secretariat, accumulating deep expertise in local finance and tax policy. He also served twice as chief of the planning and coordination office in Sejong, overseeing policy planning and overall city administration. He later returned to the ministry as director general of the local tax bureau before taking up his most recent post as personnel planning official.
Mayor Jeon Jae-soo said Kim is "a person who combines expertise in local finance with hands-on experience running a local government," adding that he expects Kim to "pursue key city administration tasks with substance, backed by stable organizational management, and support Busan's continued development."
