Donation campaign held at Ulsan Industrial Festival
'Will continue contributing to local community,' company says
Korea Zinc's Onsan smelter presented 50 million won ($37,400) to the Ulsan Community Chest of Korea on Thursday, with the funds raised by linking citizens' messages of encouragement at the Ulsan Industrial Festival to charitable donations.
During the festival, held Oct. 8–11, the Onsan smelter ran a citizen participation campaign in which visitors who wrote a message of support at the festival site had their contribution converted into a donation by Korea Zinc. The format allowed residents to take part in giving through a simple act, while Korea Zinc fulfilled its social responsibility through the accumulated funds.
Korea Zinc designed the campaign around the four core pillars of its corporate social responsibility brand "KZ Clover": donations and volunteering, talent development, culture and the arts, and environmental sustainability. The funds will be used to improve welfare services and living conditions for vulnerable residents at four social welfare facilities across Ulsan.
