Chinese AI company DeepSeek has unveiled a new architecture called "Super Agent," designed to let AI agents handle multiple tasks simultaneously by delegating conversation management and other coordination duties to the system itself.
DeepSeek announced Saturday (local time) that the Super Agent is not confined to a single chat window and can continuously carry out multiple tasks at the same time while proactively responding to changes in its environment, according to foreign media reports.
DeepSeek said the number of tasks AI can perform keeps growing, but human supervisors' attention has not kept pace. A single person, the company noted, can follow only three to five conversations at once.
The Super Agent addresses this by shifting conversation management and context synchronization from humans to the system. Under the new setup, humans are responsible for setting goals and reviewing results, while the AI handles coordination and execution.
The Super Agent operates through a "router" and a "worker" that function like a virtual team. The router takes in information from platforms such as chat and email and distributes tasks, while workers carry out individual assignments such as code review and feature development. Users interact with what appears to be a single AI agent, but in practice multiple agents are working simultaneously behind the scenes.
The Super Agent also has a degree of autonomy: it can monitor conversations in group chat rooms and proactively identify problems and propose solutions without receiving separate instructions.
