The Yangcheon-gu Municipal Choir will treat residents to a special autumn evening of music steeped in nostalgia and emotion.
Yangcheon-gu announced Sunday that the choir will hold its 23rd annual concert, titled "Exhibition of Memories," on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the grand theater of Yangcheon Culture Center.
The performance is designed as a stage where cherished memories and personal recollections are expressed through music, creating a shared moment between performers and the audience.
The program spans a wide range of genres, from classical choral works and art songs to popular music and musical theater numbers. Piano, a violin-cello duet, saxophone and drums will join the choir, adding depth and richness to the performance.
Key repertoire includes "Think of Me" from the musical "The Phantom of the Opera," along with "Jindallaekkot," "Baramibureooeunesgot" and "Motijeo" — songs set to poems by Kim So-wol. The tango-inflected "Por Una Cabeza" and "Geudeawa Yeongwonhi" will also be performed with instrumental accompaniment.
The evening will close with "All That Jazz" and the upbeat "Dancing Fool," both from the musical "Chicago," sending the audience home in high spirits.
Admission is free and open to all. Doors open at 7 p.m. on the day of the concert on a first-come, first-served basis. Further details are available through the Yangcheon-gu Office's culture division or its official website.
Founded in 1988, the Yangcheon-gu Municipal Choir currently has 28 active members. Beyond its annual concerts, the choir engages with residents through local festivals, cultural events and outreach performances, contributing to the development of arts and culture in the district.
"Music has the power to connect different memories through a single melody, and sometimes to bring back recollections we had forgotten," Yangcheon-gu District Mayor Lee Ki-jae said. "I hope this concert will be a warm occasion for residents to revisit precious memories and share their feelings with one another."
