Kim Dong-sun, president of Hanwha M&S, and Frederic Arnault, CEO of Loro Piana and son of LVMH Chairman Bernard Arnault, held a surprise meeting over ice cream in Seoul.
According to industry sources Monday, the two were recently spotted together at Galleria department store's luxury hall in Seoul, sampling ice cream from Benson, with photos of the encounter circulating on social media.
The pair toured Loro Piana's Christmas decorations installed at the East Plaza of the luxury hall as well as the brand's recently renovated store before visiting the Benson outlet together.
The meeting drew added attention given that Benson is a premium ice cream brand Kim personally spearheaded and launched in South Korea. The two also discussed a range of retail issues during the encounter, according to sources.
"Kim Dong-sun and Frederic Arnault toured the Loro Piana Christmas tree, which was set up in collaboration with the luxury hall, as well as the recently renovated store," a Hanwha M&S official said. "They then visited the Benson store in person, sampled the ice cream and exchanged views on various current issues."
