Hong Kong Tourism Board launches Good Take campaign
Over 100 filming locations from 50 works mapped out
On-site guided tours to follow in partnership with travel industry
A new screen tourism route will connect more than 100 Hong Kong filming locations into a single itinerary, taking travelers beyond the shoot sites to explore nearby alleyways and local restaurants.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board on Monday unveiled the "Hong Kong Good Take" campaign, a city tour built around filming locations from movies and drama series. The campaign covers more than 100 sites drawn from 50 productions, pairing each location with surrounding attractions and dining recommendations.
The campaign's official website offers location details organized by production as well as recommended routes by neighborhood, including Old Town Central, Sham Shui Po and Yau Ma Tei. The itineraries follow the on-screen paths of each work, guiding visitors from busy commercial streets through back alleys and along waterfront promenades.
Key filming locations on the route include the Star Ferry Pier, the backdrop for a chase scene in "Cold War," and Man Mo Temple, which Anita Mui's character visits in "Rouge." The island village of Yim Tin Tsai, where the church duel in "The Killer" was filmed, is also featured, along with the Central–Mid-Levels Escalator from "The Dark Knight" and Hollywood Road from "Rush Hour 2."
The campaign also incorporates venues dedicated to Hong Kong's film history and culture: Broadway Cinematheque, an art-house cinema; the Avenue of Stars, home to handprints and statues of film figures; and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and Hong Kong Film Archive, both of which hold permanent collections. Themed content tracing the legacies of actors Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui will be presented alongside the location guides.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board plans to roll out a culinary content series called "Taste Hong Kong Through Cinema," spotlighting food featured in the productions, along with a guided program developed in partnership with local tourism operators. Full details on the Hong Kong Good Take campaign, individual filming locations and recommended travel routes are available on the board's official website.
