The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on Tuesday publicly identified Lee Myung-su, 77, as the suspect in the Yeoksam serial arson case. Lee allegedly entered two buildings in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on Oct. 20 and set them on fire in succession. Police convened a personal information disclosure review committee and voted to release Lee's identity on three grounds: the severity of the harm and the brutal nature of the crime, sufficient evidence of the offense, and the public interest in preventing reoffending and deterring future crimes. Lee's personal information will be available on the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's website for 30 days beginning Tuesday.
