Broadcaster Hwang Gwang-hee pushed back after Park Myung-soo said his appearance fee was too high.
Friday's episode of the YouTube channel Halmyeongsu showed Park and Hwang setting off on a trip to Los Angeles together.
When the production crew greeted Hwang by saying "Gwang-hee is family now," Park quipped, "If he's family, can't we use both Gwang-hee and Mimi?" — a reference to Mimi, a member of girl group Oh My Girl, who was not on the trip.
Park then turned to Hwang and brought up his appearance fee directly. "You're expensive," Park said. "The PD told me."
A flustered Hwang shot back, "That's not true. Stop saying I'm expensive." Hwang added, "I already cut my rate by a lot this time."
When Park joked, "Just do it for free," Hwang replied, "Do you want your younger brother to not make money? How long am I supposed to keep getting paid the old rate? I'm sick of it. You guys have all gotten paid what you deserve, so why do I have to keep taking the old money?" Park then offered some advice: "Better to charge less and do more work. That's a much better deal."
Park then called Mimi and said, "I'm sorry I couldn't bring you to the US. Please don't raise your fee — keep it frozen."
Hwang told Mimi, "If you tell me what you're making, I'll match it," but Mimi replied, "Is the appearance fee really what matters? I'd go even without getting paid. Get your priorities straight" — a response that visibly pleased Park.
