LG Electronics supplies 440 indoor plant devices to 23 elementary schools in North Gyeongsang Province

LG Electronics will support smart farm education at 23 elementary schools in North Gyeongsang Province by supplying its LG Tiiun Mini indoor plant appliance. The company said Monday it held a launch ceremony for the "Green Button Supporters" program with the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation's North Gyeongsang branch on May 28.

LG Electronics supplied 440 units of the LG Tiiun Mini and held training sessions for teachers at the ceremony, covering how to use the device and how to grow plants with it. The appliance lets users grow plants by inserting a seed kit, adding water and nutrients, and switching on its LED light. Its compact design makes it easy to place on a bedside table, office desk or dining table.

This is the first time LG Electronics has supplied the LG Tiiun Mini on a large scale for educational purposes.

The National Agricultural Cooperative Federation's North Gyeongsang branch chose the LG Tiiun Mini because it allows plants to grow even during hot summers or cold winters when outdoor cultivation is difficult. The project aims to deepen students' understanding of plant cultivation by having them grow plants in a smart growing environment that incorporates IT technology. Organizers expect the initiative to contribute to students' emotional well-being and help foster a positive attitude toward nature.

LG Electronics has also donated LG Tiiun Mini units to hospitals to support patients' emotional well-being and provided the devices to regular sponsors of children in need, as part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts.
