The Rebuilding Korea Party on Wednesday said it "strongly regrets" the shoddy management of the election after ballot shortages at some polling stations left voters unable to cast their ballots properly.
Senior Spokesperson Park Byeong-eon said in a statement that the National Election Commission's explanation — that it had reduced the number of ballots printed for election day because of high early voting turnout — "cannot serve as an excuse."
However, Park dismissed the People Power Party's calls to halt the vote count and hold a re-election as "an irresponsible demand that only deepens confusion, given that the vast majority of voting proceeded normally."
Park urged the National Election Commission to swiftly resolve the confusion caused by the ballot shortage and disclose the results transparently afterward. "Transparent resolution is the only way to quickly end the public confusion," he said.
