FC Online mini-games to launch inside Chzzk soccer broadcasts Friday
Nexon is teaming up with Naver's streaming platform Chzzk to blend the experience of watching soccer with playing a soccer game.
The two companies announced Monday they will integrate EA SPORTS FC Online — known as FC Online — with Chzzk in a new cross-platform content offering.
The collaboration is designed to extend the soccer broadcast viewing experience into gameplay ahead of a major global soccer event. Users can join mini-games without switching screens.
Starting at 10 a.m. Friday, desktop users watching soccer, FC Online or FC Mobile category streams on Chzzk will be able to play three FC Online-based mini-games directly within the viewing screen.
The mini-games reflect core FC Online mechanics, including a curve-shot challenge and a free-kick challenge, letting users watch a broadcast and play at the same time on a single screen.
Users who complete all the mini-games will receive an FC Online or FC Mobile coupon code delivered to their Npay storage. They can enter the code in-game to claim reward items.
The partnership will also deliver personalized content. Nexon and Naver plan to surface tailored Nexon game content within the Chzzk interface for viewers of relevant broadcast categories, drawing on user data. Customized banners based on a viewer's interests and gameplay history will guide users from watching a stream to launching a game.
The project is part of the strategic partnership the two companies have been building since they signed an agreement in September last year. Most recently, in May, they linked their account and payment data to strengthen personalized services for game users.
"This collaboration is an attempt to combine the experience of playing a game with watching a game, drawing on both companies' content and platform capabilities," said Bae Jun-young, head of Nexon's platform division. "Building on the cooperation Nexon and Naver have developed — from account integration to content linkage — we will create an environment where users' everyday lives and gaming are connected."
Further details about the collaboration are available in the notices section of the Chzzk Lounge.
