Singer Seo In-young, remarrying 2 years after divorce, says she 'fell for' fiancé despite initial resistance

Singer Seo In-young, 41, who is preparing to remarry, opened up about her love story with her fiancé and the reasons she decided to wed again.

On Tuesday, Seo posted a video titled "Seo In-young's True Feelings on Marriage — First Reveal (Misunderstandings, the Truth and the Wedding)" on her YouTube channel "Gaegwacheonson Seo In-young."

News had recently emerged that Seo plans to marry by the end of this year. She married in February 2023 and the union ended in November 2024, meaning she is tying the knot again roughly two years later. Her partner is Choi Chi-hoon, CEO of content creative company NP, who is six years her senior.

Describing her fiancé, Seo said he had never been married before. "People call him a businessman or entrepreneur, but he's really a workaholic salaried executive," she said. She added that the couple had originally planned to marry sooner but pushed back the date after she launched her YouTube channel.

"Before, I'll admit I thought, 'Who wouldn't like someone with money?' But now I'm drawn to someone who works hard, and that's what I fell in love with," she said. She also recounted asking her fiancé whether he could take care of her even if she had spent all her money. "He just said, 'Of course,'" she said. "He has never once asked about my finances — that kind of thing simply doesn't matter to him."

Seo said she had given up on marriage after her divorce but changed her mind after meeting her fiancé. She described their first encounter: an acquaintance set her up on a blind date at a time when she was struggling with severe depression and drinking heavily. "I invited friends and my younger sibling to meet him the day before the date, and I was drawn to how confidently he walked in," she said. "I had started to think I was someone who just couldn't get married, but he gave me a sense of resolve."

"Because I'm remarrying, I was cautious — when I first sensed early on that marriage might be possible, I told myself, 'No, this isn't right,' and pushed the feeling away," she said. "He's such a sincere and good person that I thought I didn't deserve to be with someone like him." She added that she initially tried to cut things off to avoid hurting him, but ultimately fell for him anyway. "I didn't want to hurt him — I wanted to give him certainty," she said.

Addressing concerns some people have raised about her remarrying, Seo said, "I crave love, and marriage is my dream. Even in my first marriage, I really tried to make it work, and when it didn't, that dream stayed with me." She asked for support rather than worry. "I understand why people are concerned since I failed the first time, but I'm finally living out my dream now — please just cheer me on," she said.
