PPP leader accuses Lee of spreading 'pro-China, pro-North Korea virus'

People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok claimed Thursday that President Lee Jae Myung's "pro-China, pro-North Korea virus is contaminating South Korea."

Writing on his Facebook page Thursday, Jang said Lee "said not a word about North Korea's trash balloon attacks, yet went on to suggest North Korea must have felt humiliated by South Korea's drones — remarks that sounded like those of a North Korean spokesperson."

Jang also criticized the dissolution of the Defense Counterintelligence Command, which he described as "the eyes and ears of our military." He said Jeju Governor Oh Young-hun had secretly sent North Korea's "Ri" organization tree seedlings, a kidney dialysis machine and other goods worth 160 million won (about $105,000). "Security cannot be preserved by begging for it," he added.

He further claimed that the War Memorial of Korea, which falls under the Ministry of National Defense, had incorporated the Chinese term "항미원조" — meaning "Resist America, Aid Korea" — into an elementary school education program. "This amounts to teaching children Xi Jinping's claim that North Korea never invaded the South and that China's entry into the war was a just cause," Jang said.

"At the root of all this dismantling of national security is Lee Jae Myung, and his pro-China, pro-North Korea virus is contaminating South Korea," he said, and went on to say he would "absolutely protect South Korea's freedom and security, and safeguard the future of our children."
