The Korean Sport and Olympic Committee, led by President Yoo Seung-min, announced Thursday that it successfully held its second International Event Observer Program of 2026 in Gangneung on June 10 and 11.
The observer program places officials from sports organizations, local governments and related agencies at domestic international sporting events as observers, allowing them to learn firsthand about the preparation and management of such competitions. The Korean Sport and Olympic Committee has run the program annually since 2020 with the goal of strengthening international capacity.
This year's second session was held in conjunction with the 2026 Gangneung World Masters Table Tennis Championships, drawing more than 50 participants — including representatives from member sports federations, provincial and metropolitan sports councils, local governments, and the organizing committee for the 2027 Chungcheong Summer World University Games.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation provide fiscal support for the program.
