Teen college student lying in alley killed by delivery truck in late-night accident

A teenage college student lying in an alley late at night was struck and killed by a delivery truck in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province.

According to the Namyangju Southern Police Station, a delivery truck driven by a man in his 50s, identified only as A, struck a teenage female college student, identified as B, who was lying in the road in an alley in Dasan-dong, Namyangju, at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

B was rushed to a hospital but died of her injuries.

A called 119 himself to report the accident and told police he "did not see her because the surroundings were dark," according to investigators.

The reason B was lying in the road at the time of the accident has not been determined.

Police have booked A on charges of negligent homicide and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
