Park Woon-ki to Launch AI Resident Feedback System — Real-Time Insights Into Daily Community Needs

Park Woon-ki, the incoming district mayor of Seodaemun-gu, is set to launch an AI-powered resident feedback system as a flagship initiative to transform district governance and realize resident-centered lifestyle politics.

The move is the first concrete administrative step toward what Park has consistently championed: a permanent communication system and what he calls "alleyway democracy."

The new AI resident feedback system allows any Seodaemun-gu resident to submit complaints and policy suggestions at any time and from any location via smartphone. Residents can send text messages or voice messages to a dedicated number, and the AI system analyzes and categorizes submissions in real time. From routine repeat complaints to complex local issues and fresh ideas for district development, the AI summarizes key content and forwards it immediately to the transition committee and the incoming district mayor.

Existing complaint channels in local districts have long been criticized for limiting participation by younger residents and digitally vulnerable groups due to complex identity verification requirements and accessibility barriers. Park combined familiar mobile technology with advanced AI to dramatically lower that threshold and collect residents' everyday voices without filtering. Opinions spanning a wide range of issues closely tied to residents' daily lives — from key neighborhood concerns in Yeonhui-dong and Hongje-dong to infant care, youth housing support and climate crisis response — are expected to feed directly into district policy.

Park believes that incorporating residents' substantive needs from the very outset of campaign pledge feasibility reviews is a critical success factor for the ninth term of local governance.

Feedback collected through the system will go through in-depth subcommittee discussions within the transition committee and be actively incorporated into a policy report and district vision framework serving as the master plan for Seodaemun-gu's ninth-term administration. The incoming district mayor's philosophy of avoiding showpiece projects in favor of results-driven governance will be realized through technology.
