Lee Jae-yul, chairman of the Hope Seongnam Innovation Committee, said Thursday that the committee was wrapping up its two-week run with a final report presentation, marking the conclusion of preparations for the launch of Seongnam's ninth directly elected city administration.
"I stand here today as chairman to present the direction of administrative innovation our committee has deliberated on together, and to propose a vision for where Seongnam's ninth directly elected administration should be headed," Lee said. "The core questions I wrestled with most deeply in this role were bold innovation and the discovery of new policies."
He said the committee had spent the past two weeks conducting a thorough, ground-up review of Seongnam's major projects. "Rather than simply retracing past achievements, we focused all our efforts on identifying new policies that can raise residents' quality of life and deliver tangible change," he said.
Lee said the committee had closely examined all 104 campaign pledges tied to the ninth directly elected term. "We worked to reprioritize projects so that the promises made to citizens can be pursued more effectively, and to make their content more concrete and aligned with residents' expectations," he said. "We shed what needed to be shed, actively identified necessary reform tasks, and completed the blueprint for the ninth term."
After that intensive process of diagnosis and deliberation, Lee said the committee's proposed core vision for Seongnam's ninth directly elected administration is "Seongnam, the Standard for Korea." To realize that vision, he outlined three guiding principles: transparent city governance grounded in principle and trust, under the banner "Righteous Seongnam"; forward-looking administration driven by fourth-generation industries, under "Fast Innovation"; and resident-centered, everyday governance that puts citizens' lives first, under "Happy Citizens." "Based on these three guiding principles, our committee is proposing the key reform tasks that Seongnam's ninth directly elected administration should pursue as priorities," he added.
