Uiseong-gun chief Kim Ju-su wraps up 12 years in office

Uiseong-gun chief Kim Ju-su brought his 12-year tenure to a close June 26, marking the occasion with a farewell ceremony alongside residents of the county.

North Gyeongsang Province's Uiseong-gun held the departure ceremony at Uiseong Culture Center to honor Kim's service across three elected terms — the sixth, seventh and eighth rounds of civilian local government — and to reflect on achievements made together with residents.

Held under the slogan "12 Years of Uiseong, Together with Our People, Toward the Future," the event went beyond a formal send-off, serving as a gathering to look back on the past 12 years and reaffirm a shared vision for the county's future.

The ceremony opened with a joint performance by "Munhwa-ui Seong," a professional vocal ensemble led by Son Hyeok, an opera singer from Uiseong, and the Uiseong i Happiness Choir, made up of local residents. The blend of the professional singers' resonant voices with the warmth of the community choir underscored the spirit of unity the event sought to celebrate.

A commemorative video tracing Uiseong-gun's transformation and development over the past 12 years was screened during the main program. Kim was then presented with a plaque of appreciation and a commemorative service award in recognition of his contributions to the county's growth.

In his farewell address, Kim thanked residents for their support. "I sincerely thank the people of this county for trusting and standing by the county administration over the past 12 years," he said. "I ask for your continued attention and encouragement so that Uiseong can keep moving forward toward an even brighter future."
