Agent Call offers real-time captions and hands-free hold; on-device AI summarizes texts and extracts reservation and coupon details; new To-Do tab suggests follow-up actions
SK Telecom has significantly expanded AI capabilities across its A. service.
The Agent Call feature now supports real-time captions and hands-free hold throughout customer service calls, while AI Message goes beyond flagging spam and phishing texts to summarize incoming messages and suggest follow-up actions. A newly added To-Do tab recommends next steps when users log a task.
SK Telecom announced Monday that it has broadly expanded the AI agent functions in A., including Agent Call, AI Message and the new To-Do tab.
Agent Call uses A.'s AI to assist users throughout calls with businesses registered in the app's "Biz Contacts" directory. When a call connects, the screen automatically switches to the Agent Call interface, where AI displays the conversation as real-time captions. Automated voice menu prompts appear as on-screen buttons, so users no longer need to listen to each option in full.
If the wait for a live agent runs long, users can tap "Hand off to agent" and let the AI hold the line on their behalf.
The AI Message feature has been expanded beyond its original role of flagging suspicious spam and phishing texts with a Caution label. It now summarizes the key content of incoming messages and suggests follow-up actions — pulling the date, location and link from a reservation text, for example, or extracting the expiration date and coupon number from a promotional message, then offering to add the details to a calendar or open the relevant link.
The feature runs on Google's on-device AI technology, LiteRT, which uses the device's own computing resources — including the CPU — to enable fast, stable AI inference. This allows text analysis, content summarization and key information extraction to run entirely on the device.
A To-Do tab has also been added to the A. home screen. The feature automatically logs tasks based on call and message content, and recommends follow-up actions — including an AI-generated checklist — for items the user enters.
When a user types in a task, the AI creates a checklist for it. Entering "prepare for moving," for instance, prompts suggestions such as making a packing list, gathering packing materials and securing important documents.
Agent Call and AI Message are accessible through the "Phone > Settings" menu in the A. app on iOS or the A. Phone app on Android. Users must download the AI engine once on first use; disabling the features also removes the engine from the device.
On Android, Agent Call is supported on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and newer models that come with the A. Phone app pre-installed. AI Message requires Android 14 or later and at least 8 gigabytes of RAM. On iOS, both features are available on iPhone 15 Pro and newer devices running iOS 26 or later.
"This update is aimed at advancing A. into an AI service that more proactively monitors information in customers' daily lives and offers help at the moments they need it," said Kim Ji-hoon, head of SK Telecom's AI business division. "We will continue developing A. into an AI service for everyone."
