KT Corp simplifies rate plans, launches unlimited data package from 28,900 won

KT Corp has streamlined its mobile rate plans to just 18 options, launching a new integrated lineup that includes an unlimited data package starting at 28,900 won ($13) and extending quality-of-service protection across all plans.

KT Corp announced Tuesday the launch of its integrated rate plan, which merges the previously separate 5G and LTE pricing structures into a single unified system. New sign-ups for the old 5G and LTE plans will be discontinued, though existing subscribers may keep their current plans.

The overhaul cuts the number of available plans from 105 to 18. The new lineup expands data allowances, introduces an automatic age-based bonus benefit called "Deom," and applies QoS to every plan as a standard feature.

The integrated plans are organized into two lines — Choice and Basic — reflecting shifts in how customers use data. The Choice line is a premium tier built around fully unlimited data, designed for heavy users of content and devices. It expands shared data allowances so customers can freely distribute data across smart devices.

The Choice 110 plan raises the shared data cap to 80 gigabytes and Choice 90 to 60 gigabytes. Choice 130 extends smart device plan discounts to up to two additional lines. Customers can also tailor their plans by selecting add-ons such as OTT streaming services, phone care coverage and device discounts. The Choice Double plan bundles Disney+ Standard and handset insurance discounts simultaneously.

The Basic line is a value-focused tier centered on data volume. It removes shared data restrictions that applied to some plans, broadening how customers can use their allowance. QoS applies across all Basic tiers so service continues even after the data cap is reached — at up to 5 Mbps for the Basic 110GB plan, 1 Mbps for Basic plans of 14GB or more, and 400 Kbps for plans of 10GB or below.

The Basic 600MB plan, priced at 28,900 won per month, provides 600 megabytes of full-speed data before dropping to 400 Kbps for the remainder of the billing cycle.

KT Corp has also introduced automatic age-based bonus benefits — branded "Deom" — that activate without a separate application once a customer meets the eligibility criteria. Youth customers receive "Y Deom," which doubles their data allowance; children receive "School Deom"; and senior customers are covered by either "65+ Deom" or "75+ Deom" depending on their age.

For example, a customer in their 20s on the 61,000-won Basic 30GB plan would automatically receive 60GB under Y Deom — double the base allowance. If that data is exhausted, service continues at 1 Mbps.

Benefits for active-duty military personnel have also been enhanced. On top of the Y Deom data-doubling benefit during service, subscribers on plans of 45,000 won or more per month receive an additional 2GB of data every day. Data speeds after the cap are maintained at 3 Mbps.

KT Corp is also running a quiz-based promotional event to mark the launch. Participants will be entered into a prize draw for rewards including Mega Coffee vouchers, N Pay points and Shinsegae gift certificates.
