Yeosu orthopedic surgeon invited to demonstrate tendon transfer technique in France

Baek Chang-hee, an orthopedic surgeon and director of Yeosu Baek Hospital, has been officially invited as faculty for the 2027 Annecy Live Surgery, one of the world's most prestigious shoulder surgery conferences, to be held in Annecy, France.

At the event, Baek will personally demonstrate the shoulder tendon transfer technique he developed before shoulder specialists from around the world.

The lecture will take place in Annecy in June 2027, drawing more than 1,000 shoulder specialists from across the globe.

Widely regarded as a pioneer in shoulder joint surgery, Baek will perform live operations alongside leading international shoulder surgery experts and introduce his newly developed surgical technique and treatment philosophy.

Baek has already drawn international attention this year with a string of invited lectures at major shoulder surgery conferences worldwide.

In February, he presented his shoulder tendon transfer technique at an international shoulder surgery conference in Paris, and in June at conferences in Nice, France, and in Vietnam, drawing considerable interest from the global medical community.

He is also scheduled to present as an invited speaker at the European Shoulder Conference in Barcelona, Spain, and the World Shoulder Conference in Vancouver, Canada, in September, followed by the Boston Shoulder Tendon Transfer Symposium hosted by Harvard Medical School in October.

Baek's primary area of research is shoulder tendon transfer surgery for patients with irreparable rotator cuff tears.

Over the past 15 years, he has consistently developed and refined new surgical methods. His related research has been cited in approximately 100 SCI-indexed papers published in Korea and abroad, earning high international recognition.

Baek is now recognized as a leading authority in the field, with physicians from around the world traveling to Yeosu to observe his surgeries and learn his techniques through hands-on training.

"Shoulder tendon transfer surgery is a field that can offer new hope to patients who were once considered difficult to treat," Baek said. "I will continue to develop safer and more effective treatments and share that experience with physicians around the world."

Yeosu Baek Hospital will also host the Yeosu International Shoulder Tendon Transfer Live Symposium on Feb. 12-13, 2027.

The symposium will bring world-renowned shoulder specialists from the United States, France, Japan and other countries to Yeosu to perform live demonstrations of complex tendon transfer procedures. About 150 shoulder specialists from Korea and abroad are expected to attend to learn the latest surgical techniques and treatment approaches.
