Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon hit the legal fundraising cap just 15 minutes after opening donations.
Han announced the launch of his fundraising committee on social media Wednesday, beginning to accept contributions at 10 a.m. Fifteen minutes and eight seconds later, he posted again to say the limit had been reached.
"I am deeply grateful for your support," Han wrote on social media. "I will make sure to do good politics."
Han's office said the average donation was 72,491 won ($47), with 96.2 percent of donors giving 100,000 won or less.
Han had previously hit the 150 million won cap in 19 minutes during the Busan Buk-gu by-election on May 13, when a surge of simultaneous donations caused a banking system error.
Under current political finance law, a National Assembly member may raise up to 300 million won in an election year. Combined with the 150 million won he raised as a candidate in May, Han has now reached his annual limit for this year.
