Actor Han Ga-in says wedding photos are 'meaningless,' reveals she hides hers behind a wardrobe

Actor Han Ga-in, married for 21 years, has said that wedding photos are "completely meaningless."

Han made the remark Wednesday on her YouTube channel in a video titled "What happens when Han Ga-in, who has never tried coffee, works a shift at a cafe with 55.7 billion won in annual sales." When a production staff member mentioned being stressed about wedding photography ahead of a March wedding next year, Han offered blunt advice: "It means nothing. You don't need to do a wedding shoot."

"Nobody looks at wedding photos after they're taken," she said. "They're such a hassle that every time I move, I hide them behind the wardrobe." Han acknowledged that brides naturally want a stunning keepsake from one of the rare occasions they get to wear a dress, but added, "That satisfaction is really only momentary."

Han also revealed she never made a wedding album. "I took two or three photos and that was it — they're all online if you search anyway," she said. "When my kids ask about wedding photos, I just tell them to search for them. I didn't bother because I knew it would come to this."

Han's comments come as wedding costs in South Korea continue to climb. According to a wedding service price survey by the Korea Consumer Agency, the national average cost of a wedding in February was 21.39 million won ($13,800). Gangnam in Seoul was the most expensive area at 34.66 million won, followed by the rest of Seoul at 28.92 million won and Gyeonggi Province at 19.09 million won. The total wedding cost covers the venue contract as well as the so-called "studio-dress-makeup" package, combining studio photography, dress rental and hair and makeup services. The median price for such a package was 2.9 million won.
