Yoo Dae-sun, former chief of Ulsan Jungbu Fire Station, was inaugurated Sunday as the seventh chief of Ulsan North Fire Station.
Yoo joined the fire department through open recruitment in 1992 and has since held a range of frontline and administrative posts, including head of the response coordination, information and communications, and public affairs teams at the fire headquarters, disaster response division chief at Ulsan Nam-gu, and the inaugural commander of the special response unit. He earned recognition for his command during major disasters, including a vessel fire at Yeompo Pier in 2019 and a fire at the Samhwan Artnuvo mixed-use complex in 2020.
"Preemptive prevention and airtight on-scene response are essential in dealing with the increasingly complex and large-scale disasters of modern society," Yoo said. "I will build a fire department that citizens can trust through rational decision-making that reflects the views of our staff and open communication."
