The entrance to Yongsan-ri village in Maejeon-myeon, Cheongdo-gun, is drawing visitors with its summer blooms and a newly created community rest area. Lily flowers in full bloom line the village's stone walls, while clusters of liriope spread lushly along the tree-lined path, forming a picturesque scene. Particularly striking are the traditional sotdae — tall wooden poles topped with carved birds — standing behind the flower path, adding a warm, folk-art character to the landscape. Natural stone platforms and wooden benches have also been installed so visitors can rest comfortably amid the watercolor-like surroundings.
Kim Yong-seop, head of Maejeon-myeon, said the village had prepared "a small gift" for visitors passing through. "We hope people will stop their cars for a moment, sit on a bench, take in the sotdae and the blooming lilies, and carry away a fresh summer memory," he said.
