Ulleung-gun opens temporary public parking lot on student gymnasium site

Ulleung-gun in North Gyeongsang Province has completed construction of a temporary parking lot on the Ulleung Student Gymnasium site and will open it to residents free of charge starting Thursday, the county announced Wednesday.

The new temporary lot can accommodate 43 vehicles and will be open 24 hours a day at no cost. County officials expect it to ease parking congestion in the Dodong town center and improve convenience for visitors to local businesses.

After the lot opens, the county plans to conduct regular patrols and public-awareness campaigns to prevent long-abandoned vehicles and unauthorized parking by large freight trucks, maintaining a comfortable parking environment for residents.

"This temporary parking lot is the result of actively listening to residents and quickly finding a solution to make better use of the site before the Daieumteo facility is built," Ulleung-gun Mayor Nam Han-gwon said.
