The Ulsan Metropolitan Council, led by Speaker Lee Yeong-hae, established its 9th-term Budget and Settlement Special Committee and Ethics Special Committee at the third plenary session of the 265th extraordinary session on Thursday.
Nine lawmakers were appointed to the budget committee: Kwon Yeong-ae, Kim Dae-yeong, Park Yong-geol, Lee Seong-ryong, Lee Eun-ju, Lee Ju-eon, Jeon Yeong-hui, Jeong Na-yun and Hong Seong-u. Park Yong-geol was elected chair and Jeong Na-yun vice chair.
The ethics committee was similarly composed of nine members: Heo Hui-jeong, Jeong Na-yun, Kim Gi-hwan, An Dae-ryong, Kim Nam-i, No Myeong-hwan, Kwon Yeong-ae, Son Geun-ho and Kim Dae-yeong. Heo Hui-jeong was elected chair and Jeong Na-yun vice chair.
The budget committee will review budget and settlement proposals from the Ulsan city government and the city's education office. The ethics committee will examine lawmakers' compliance with the council's code of ethics and rules of ethical conduct, as well as disciplinary matters, under the Local Autonomy Act.
