Keimyung University women's studies institute, Daegu welfare agency sign MOU on gender equality policy

Keimyung University's Women's Studies Research Institute and the Daegu Happy Promotion Social Service Agency signed a memorandum of understanding Thursday at the Women's Safety Theme Space (SISO) at Daegu Concert House, pledging cooperation on women's and gender equality policy research and community engagement.

The agreement aims to build a collaborative framework linking gender equality policy research with community practice, with both institutions committing to jointly improve the quality of life for women in the region and promote a culture of gender equality.

The signing ceremony was attended by Choi Yun-gyeong, director of Keimyung University's Women's Studies Research Institute, along with institute researchers, and Seong Ji-hye, head of the policy research division at the Daegu Happy Promotion Social Service Agency, as well as other senior officials from both organizations.

Under the MOU, the two institutions agreed to jointly pursue women's and gender equality policy research and collaborative projects, identify and propose regional policy priorities, cooperate on surveys to assess policy demand and support evidence-based research, share knowledge and information to promote a culture of gender equality, and collaborate on other policy development initiatives.

"This agreement is an important opportunity for academic research to extend into community policy and practice," Choi said. "We will strengthen our cooperation to bring about meaningful change in the areas of women's rights and gender equality."

Seong, who also serves as director of the Daegu Gender Impact Assessment Center, said more effective policy becomes possible when field-based experience is combined with university research capabilities. "We will continue to work together to improve the quality of life for women in the region and spread a culture of gender equality," she said.
