Program run with Seoul Volunteer Center features company visits
Employees share work experience, organizational culture and project insights
Last month's session targeted youth seeking careers in social contribution
Sampyo Group said Wednesday it held a company-linked youth career mentoring program called "Cheongchun Jabdam (Job Talk)" on Friday at the Ima Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, for young people between the ages of 19 and 34.
Organized by the Seoul Volunteer Center, Cheongchun Jabdam brings working professionals and young job seekers together to share work experience and career concerns. It runs in two stages: a first mentoring session focused on exploring career directions, and a second centered on visiting company and institutional sites.
The first session, held last Monday at Sookmyung Women's University, drew about 60 working professionals from Seoul-based companies, public institutions and foundations — including Sampyo Group — along with about 200 young participants.
For the second session, Sampyo Group invited the participants to its headquarters, where employees introduced the work processes used in actual business planning and operations, as well as the company's internal collaboration structure. The group also ran interactive activities, including a quiz on Sampyo Group and the construction materials industry.
During a job introduction and Q&A session, employees shared details about their roles, project planning and execution, organizational culture and professional life. A satisfaction survey conducted after the program found that participants came away with a better understanding of what the workplace and day-to-day work actually look like.
Son Ho-gyun, executive vice president for ready-mixed concrete sales at Sampyo Industries, said the session focused on real experience to help young people gain a realistic understanding of the workplace and job roles that might otherwise feel abstract. "I hope this mentoring helps them take concrete steps toward their career goals," he said.
Yoo Yong-jae, executive vice president for social contribution at Sampyo Group, said the company would continue its related social contribution activities to give young people opportunities to explore career paths and grow.
Sampyo Group also participated as a mentor at an event titled "Meet the Social Contribution Leaders of Companies and Corporate Foundations," hosted by the Youth Foundation on June 5, where it shared practical experience and career advice with young people hoping to work in the social contribution sector.
