Lotte Wellfood's ready-to-eat brand Siksairon has launched "Ilwoljeong Black Garlic Samgyetang," developed in collaboration with Ilwoljeong, a long-established restaurant in Daegu.
The product is the sixth entry in Siksairon's "Siksairon X Baengnyeon Gaje" collaboration series. Baengnyeon gaje — loosely translated as "century stores" — is a government designation the Ministry of SMEs and Startups awards to restaurants and shops that have operated for at least 30 years and demonstrated excellence and growth potential.
The new product recreates the signature dish of Ilwoljeong, a Daegu restaurant now in its second generation of family ownership. Ilwoljeong is known for its rich, deeply flavored samgyetang made with black garlic. The product uses domestically sourced chicken processed on the day of production, stuffed with black garlic, mung beans and glutinous rice, and features a broth slow-simmered in a traditional iron cauldron and a tender texture.
Siksairon has previously released products developed with baengnyeon gaje establishments across the country — including tteok galbi from Hyungje Songjeong, dakgangjeong from Sinya Chicken, boneless gamjatang from Tahyanggol, beef and radish soup from Haeundae Wonjo Halme Gukbap, and budae jjigae from Odeng Sikdang — all of which have been well received.
"We are continuing these collaborations so that more consumers can experience the traditional flavors and expertise that baengnyeon gaje establishments have built over many years," a Lotte Wellfood official said. "We will keep introducing a variety of ready-to-eat products with differentiated taste and quality."
