Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi rebels said Tuesday (local time) they attacked a Saudi Arabian oil tanker in the Red Sea with a ballistic missile.
Yahya Sari, a Houthi spokesperson, said the rebels fired a ballistic missile at a vessel that had violated their blockade of Saudi ports. He identified the target as the NCC Gazal, adding that the Saudi vessel had ignored prior warnings before the strike and had been forced to turn back.
The Houthis declared a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia and ended a truce after blaming Riyadh for an airstrike on Sanaa airport — which they control — on July 13. Since then, the group has been attacking Saudi-linked vessels in the Red Sea.
