Doctor Now has appointed Jeon Ji-woong, a veteran of online grocery platform Kurly, as its chief marketing officer. The telemedicine platform said the hire signals its intent to capitalize on the high return-visit rates that define its service.
Doctor Now announced the appointment Thursday. Jeon spent 11 years at Kurly, the operator of Market Kurly, from the company's early days, leading its business-to-consumer marketing division. He drove user acquisition and retention through customer-segmentation-based coupon discount promotions, contributing to Market Kurly reaching 3 trillion won ($2.1 billion) in annual sales.
Through the appointment, Doctor Now said it plans to raise awareness of telemedicine and expand its user base while delivering a more mature telemedicine service powered by data-driven marketing.
Since joining Doctor Now, Jeon has been leading the design of an organic growth formula for telemedicine and mapping out marketing strategies tailored to specific conditions and customer profiles. The company plans to pursue new user growth and existing user activation at the same time.
"Doctor Now is an organization with accumulated telemedicine service experience, an extensive partnership infrastructure and data assets," Jeon said. "With return and revisit rates approaching 80 percent depending on the condition — an overwhelming level of customer retention among digital platforms — we will roll out a wide range of customer-based marketing initiatives."
Meanwhile, Doctor Now is South Korea's No. 1 platform offering telemedicine, in-person appointment booking, and medication delivery and pickup services.
The company recorded more than 1.45 million medical consultations in the first half of this year alone and holds the largest medical user base and healthcare supply infrastructure in the country. Cumulative app downloads across the Apple App Store and Google Play Store have surpassed 8.55 million, and total registered users stand at 4.7 million.
