Sahmyook University graduates 11 senior models in 'second act' runway program

Eleven middle-aged and older adults have completed Sahmyook University's Senior Model Advanced Program and stepped into a new chapter of their lives.

The university announced Friday that it held a graduation ceremony for the fourth cohort of its Senior Model Advanced Program (SU-MVP) Basic course, producing 11 new senior models.

The ceremony took place July 28 at Janggeuncheong Hall in the university's International Education Building, with about 50 people in attendance — including university President Je Hae-jong, Graduate School Dean Son Ae-ri, Alumni Association President Oh Deok-sin, Senior Model Alumni Council President Choi Cheong-su, graduates and their families.

The Senior Model Advanced Program is a non-degree continuing education course designed to support middle-aged and older adults in pursuing new challenges. The fourth basic cohort completed 14 weeks of training covering fashion show trend analysis, walking and posing, performance, nutrition and health management, fashion styling, image making and speech. Graduates also gained hands-on experience through a fashion show presentation at the end of the program.

"Just as they say age is no barrier to new challenges, I congratulate you on an achievement that transcends limits," university President Je said. "I look forward to seeing you perform with confidence not only on the runway but on the stage of life."

Meanwhile, Sahmyook University plans to launch an advanced instructor-training course in September for graduates of the basic program. Those who complete the advanced course will earn a certified walking instruction specialist qualification and will be eligible to work as instructors at cultural and sports centers.
