Korea Securities Depository's securities museum runs summer vacation program

The Korea Securities Depository's Securities Museum in Busan announced Monday that it had run a special summer vacation program for elementary school students titled "Securities Stories of War and Recovery."

The three-day program ran Wednesday through Friday, drawing 108 students in grades 3 through 6.

The program was designed to help children grasp the basics of securities in an accessible and engaging way, while gaining a historical understanding of the role bonds played in wartime financing, relief activities and postwar reconstruction.

Participants examined war bonds, Red Cross loan bonds and postwar reconstruction bonds, and interpreted the illustrations, text, symbols and seals printed on them.

The Busan branch of the Securities Museum runs a range of special programs for children and teenagers each summer and winter vacation. Participants are recruited through the museum's website.

The Korea Securities Depository established the Securities Museum in May 2004. It is the only museum in South Korea dedicated exclusively to securities, and was the second of its kind to open in the world, after the Swiss Securities Museum.
