Gangnam-gu builds reconstruction progress dashboard covering 103 projects

The Gangnam-gu district office in Seoul has installed a "reconstruction progress management dashboard" in the district mayor's office, the district announced Tuesday. The system is designed to give officials an at-a-glance view of all urban renewal projects under way in the district and allow rapid responses when issues arise.

The district held a demonstration of the dashboard in the mayor's office on Monday, reviewing its key functions and operational plan. It also added a new "reconstruction information" menu to the district website and created a dedicated "reconstruction tax guide" page consolidating complex tax information related to reconstruction projects. Both are part of the "Gangnam Reconstruction Acceleration Project," a flagship policy of the current ninth elected-term administration.

Mayor Kim Hyeon-gi has made reconstruction a top priority since taking office. His first official act was approving the project implementation plan for Eunma Apartment — completed in just over 40 days after the application was filed. The district also cut the approval period for reconstruction association preparatory committees from the statutory 30 days to 10 days. Applying that shortened timeline, the district issued an approval certificate for the Irwon Hansol Apartment reconstruction project's preparatory committee on July 22.

The dashboard was set up to give the district mayor constant visibility into the progress of each urban renewal project and to establish a management system that enables swift action on matters requiring inter-agency coordination.

The main screen displays the status of all urban renewal projects in Gangnam-gu by type. The 103 sites covered include 53 reconstruction projects, 2 redevelopment projects, 10 remodeling projects, 34 small-scale renewal projects and 4 market renewal projects.

Detailed progress management functions have been applied first to the 53 reconstruction sites. Users can check the status of each zone and phase, the ninth-term administration's annual ground-breaking schedule and key pending issues. Selecting an individual site brings up a project overview, its current phase and upcoming milestones.

The system also includes site search, delay flagging and delay-cause tracking functions, enabling officials to identify stalled projects early and coordinate across departments.

Alongside this, the district is strengthening its information services for residents. A new reconstruction information menu on the district website links directly to Seoul Plan Plus (+), the Seoul Metropolitan Government's integrated urban renewal information platform, allowing residents to access project information in one place.

The district has also built a "reconstruction tax guide" page consolidating complex tax information that arises during the reconstruction process. The page provides guidance by tax category — including property tax, acquisition tax and capital gains tax — along with frequently asked questions and case examples, making it easy for residents to find the tax information they need.

A customized text alert service for key project milestones is also available. Residents can sign up to receive alerts for their entire district or a specific zone of interest and will be notified of public notice periods, official decisions, resident briefing schedules and major announcements.

"Through the progress management dashboard, I will personally monitor the status of each project and the factors behind any delays, and make necessary decisions quickly," Mayor Kim said. "I will also make sure residents can check the real-time status of urban renewal projects accurately by providing all the information they need."
