A man in his 50s wearing a GPS ankle monitor was arrested after wandering naked through central Daegu.
The Daegu Dongbu Police Station arrested the man Monday on charges of public indecency, police said Tuesday.
The man is accused of walking naked along a street in Sinam-dong, Dong-gu, at around 2:30 p.m. Monday.
Officers responding to a resident's report arrived at the scene within about five minutes and apprehended the man after roughly 10 minutes of searching, aided by closed-circuit television footage.
The man was wearing an electronic location-tracking device on his ankle at the time. He had been released from prison in March after serving time for sexual assault and was subject to mandatory ankle-monitor supervision.
Police confirmed he was neither drunk nor under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest.
During police questioning, the man reportedly said he had been wandering in a drowsy state after taking psychiatric medication.
Police have placed the man in a detention cell and are investigating the full circumstances of the incident.
"We are actively reviewing whether to seek an arrest warrant, taking into account that the man committed the offense during a repeat-offender monitoring period shortly after his release," a police official said.
