Gyeongbuk Science College has launched a convergence extracurricular program combining AI, food science and healthcare to train future nursing professionals.
The college's nursing department ran the "Food & Healthcare Academy" from Aug. 3 to Aug. 10 as part of the "locally tailored R&D" project under North Gyeongsang Province's Regional Innovation-Centered University Support System, known as RISE.
Thirty-six fourth-year nursing students took part in the program, which ran six hours a day.
The hands-on extracurricular course integrated food science, AI and healthcare, covering personalized nutrition education and patient education using health assessments and AI-based health information analysis.
"Through this program, participating students developed both digital healthcare competencies and clinical practice skills," said Park Yeon-ja, a nursing professor at Gyeongbuk Science College. "We will continue to strengthen students' employability through field-centered practical education."
