Korea East-West Power held an induction ceremony Friday for 121 new employees at the main auditorium of its headquarters in Jung-gu, Ulsan.
The new hires beat a competition ratio of 89 to 1. They were drawn from nine fields: 10 in administration, 36 in mechanical engineering, 52 in electrical engineering, 7 in chemistry, 3 in civil engineering, 3 in architecture, 5 in IT, 2 in safety and 3 in special-status positions.
In line with its socially equitable hiring policy, the company selected 85 recruits from outside the Greater Seoul metropolitan area and 15 from veterans' families, and hired 26 people from Ulsan and South Gyeongsang Province, where its headquarters is located.
In his welcoming remarks, President Kwon Myeong-ho urged the new staff to "make safety an absolute standard and an ingrained habit in all work and judgment, as the people who will lead the energy of the future."
