Bae Ji-hwan designated for assignment by Brewers after just six days

Bae Ji-hwan has been designated for assignment by the Milwaukee Brewers just six days after joining the club.

Milwaukee announced Sunday that it had placed Bae on the DFA list to make room on the roster for infielder Jonathan Ornelas, acquired from the Athletics in a cash trade.

Bae appeared in four games for Milwaukee, going 1-for-2 at the plate with one run scored and one stolen base. He was used primarily as a pinch runner and defensive replacement, with just one start.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel described Bae's time with the Brewers as brief and largely without impact, noting that he managed one bunt single in two plate appearances and misplayed a ball in his lone start that could have resulted in a triple play.

Bae signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates as an international amateur free agent in 2018 and made his major league debut in 2022. During his time in Pittsburgh, he ranked among the Pirates' top 10 prospects.
