Singer Lee Ha-neul has announced that DJ DOC will return as a full group.
On Sunday, Lee said through his YouTube channel that DJ DOC will release a single on Sept. 11 — the group's first in 15 years.
"The DOC single is coming out this November — 15 years in the making," Lee said. "No one can do the DOC sound but DOC. The DOC style is the DOC style."
He added that even artists known for contemporary foreign styles or K-pop cannot replicate what the group does. "We can't do what they do, either — and that's fine," he said.
Lee said the group intends to show fans that good music is still possible past 50 and approaching 60. "When you hear us rap, we'll prove we can still make music worth listening to," he said.
The comeback also appears to put to rest, at least in part, longstanding rumors of a rift between Lee and fellow member Kim Chang-ryul.
The feud dates to 2021, when Lee publicly alleged that Kim was connected to the death of his younger brother Lee Hyeon-bae.
