Daegu students showcase summer vacation artwork at arts center exhibition

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education announced Monday it will hold the "2026 Summer Vacation Program Student Art Exhibition," featuring more than 90 works — including webtoons, digital drawings, minhwa folk paintings and short films — created by about 90 students from fourth grade through high school during the summer break.

The exhibition runs Tuesday through Aug. 28 at the first-floor gallery "Sangsang-daero" inside the Daegu Student Arts Creation Center, and is open to the public free of charge on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The show brings together traditional and contemporary forms side by side. Works range from folk paintings that reinterpret student-designed characters through traditional coloring techniques — part of a program called "Minhwa Journey with Characters" — to music videos combining student-composed songs with AI technology through the "Music Video Camp with AI" program.

Rounding out the exhibition are webtoons conceived and completed entirely by students through the "Webtoon Artist Classroom" program, along with digital illustrations of landscapes, figures and characters from the "Digital Illustration" and "My Character Becomes Merchandise! Digital Drawing" courses.

Following this exhibition, the arts center plans to continue presenting student artwork tied to school curricula, with upcoming offerings including school-linked exhibitions, special exhibitions for field-trip programs, and combined appreciation-and-activity exhibitions.

"We are delighted to present works filled with the passion of students who took part in the summer vacation programs," Daegu Superintendent of Education Kang Eun-hee said. "We hope many people will visit the gallery and enjoy the creative achievements of our students together."
