Daegu recruits local clinics to stay open on Chuseok

Daegu city is recruiting local clinics to take part in its "holiday emergency medical support project" on Chuseok day (Sept. 25), in partnership with the Daegu Medical Association, the city announced Friday.

Daegu city and the Daegu Medical Association have jointly operated the holiday emergency medical support project since 2016 — the first such initiative in the country — to ensure patients with minor ailments can access care on public holidays.

Clinics wishing to participate on Chuseok day may apply to the Daegu Medical Association or their local public health center by Sept. 10.

Min Bok-gi, chairman of the Daegu Medical Association, said reducing gaps in medical care during holidays is central to the association's mission of protecting the lives and health of residents. "We will continue to do our part to close those gaps," he said. "We hope our members will once again join us this Chuseok."

Lee Jae-hong, director of Daegu's health and welfare bureau, said local clinics that keep their doors open during the holidays allow residents to enjoy the season with peace of mind. "We ask hospitals, clinics and pharmacies to show their support and take part this Chuseok as well," he said.
