Park Myung-su praises G-Dragon: 'Younger than me, but I respect him'

Broadcaster Park Myung-su has praised the charitable acts of G-Dragon, a member of K-pop group BigBang.

On Friday's episode of KBS Cool FM's "Park Myung-su's Radio Show," fellow broadcaster Jeon Min-gi appeared as a guest and discussed BigBang's world tour concert marking the group's 20th debut anniversary.

Jeon mentioned that G-Dragon had personally invited descendants of independence movement patriots, descendants of Korean War veterans, and corrections officers who had quietly carried out their duties — all at his own expense. "I heard G-Dragon paid for the invitations out of his own pocket," Jeon said.

Park responded with admiration. "That was a truly wonderful thing to do — something even I have not done. He is younger than me, but I respect him where respect is due," he said, adding, "In practice, even celebrity invitations come out of your own pocket. Tickets just do not come free."

Park then mused, "I wonder if G-Dragon has anything left over," prompting Jeon to reply, "Still, he probably does," drawing laughter. Park clarified: "That is not what I meant — I am saying he gives that generously."

The episode also highlighted an incident during the concert in which G-Dragon reached out to stop a camera director who was stepping backward near a 2-meter-high stage, preventing a fall.

"Of course, with all his years of experience, he would know at a glance," Park said, praising G-Dragon's quick reflexes and thoughtfulness.

Meanwhile, BigBang held its world tour "XX: COSMOS IN GOYANG" at the main stadium of Goyang Sports Complex over three days beginning Aug. 21, drawing enthusiastic crowds.
