Themed event runs Sept. 11–27; extended service until 9 p.m. Sept. 11–13
Photo zone, concert and social media event also planned
A special autumn travel program offering passengers a view of the West Sea sunset from aboard a train will be held at Wolmido in Incheon.
Incheon Transit Corp. announced Thursday it will run a "Wolmi Sunset Train" themed event from Sept. 11 to Sept. 27, combining rides on the Wolmi Sea Train with the island's seaside sunset scenery.
The centerpiece of the event is the Wolmi Sea Train running at dusk. The corporation will extend operating hours from the usual 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for three days, from Sept. 11 through Sept. 13.
The last departure is scheduled for around 8:05 to 8:10 p.m., allowing riders to take in both the West Sea scenery at sunset and Wolmido's nighttime views.
During the special operating period, the train's interior will feature original music composed using generative AI.
The aim is to showcase the Wolmi Sea Train as a tourism experience where sunset and music come together, going beyond its role as a simple mode of transport.
A "sunset photo zone" themed around the evening sky, the sea and the train will also be set up at Wolmi Sea Train Station.
A photo wall, self-portrait spaces and an instant photo booth will be installed so tourists can capture memories of their visit to Wolmido.
On Sept. 13 at 6 p.m., a cultural performance called "Yogijogi Concert in Wolmi" will be held at Wolmi Sea Train Station, with the sunset as its backdrop.
Visitor participation events are also planned. From Sept. 11 through Sept. 13, the first 500 visitors each day starting at 5 p.m. will receive a commemorative photo card featuring Wolmido's sunset.
A social media verification event will also be held, in which participants post sunset photos taken on the Wolmi Sea Train or at Wolmido with a designated hashtag on their personal accounts for a chance to win mobile gift vouchers through a draw.
Through the special event, Incheon Transit Corp. plans to draw more autumn tourists by making full use of the sea and sunset — Wolmido's signature natural attractions.
